In December we had a crash course in basic Japanese from Suzy Dixon and learned what it was like to go live in a remote part of Japan in a pre-internet and smartphone era with no literacy in Japanese. (In a a word: tough!) Head of Astronomy at Sussex Uni, Dr Stephen Wilkins showed us new images of the universe courtesy of the JWST (it’s a telescope). And Clive Webb told us of a utopian community, The Sanctuary, set up in Sussex by Vera Pragnell.
