I’m delighted to properly announce our event on 22nd September for BBC Radio 4. A unique live recording of Radio 4’s Archive Hour will take place at the Catalyst Club from 7.30pm to 10pm, exploring the theme: can anyone be a public speaker?’
Special guests include the head of TED Chris Anderson, Dan Schreiber from the BBC2 panel show, No Such Thing as the News, comedy writer Graham Duff and Charlotte Ellis (Catalyst speaker who did a hilarious talk on knitting). In the second half, Dr Gilly Forester and Dr Catherine Loveday will be exploring the neuroscience of stage fright, along with Sarah Steed from the Speakers Trust and Catalyst Club newbie Clare who, terrified of public speaking, has bravely agreed to give her first ever talk on the theme of desiccated African animal turds.  Well, it wouldn’t be the Catalyst Club without that, would it?

Doors will open a little earlier than usual at 7.30pm for a strict 8pm kick off.

PS We’ll also be interviewing audience members in the queue (those that want to) about their favourite Catalyst moments, asking ‘what makes a good/bad public talk’ and anything else you wish to share. Brownie points for nice comments about the host….
